Google Nexus One Already Gets Android OS 2.2 Upgrade

Just two days after Google unveiled Android OS 2.2, the Nexus One has received an upgrade to the new version.
The latest version of Google’s mobile operating system is the first to include tethering and portable hotspot software.

It is required for devices to run Adobe Flash Player 10.1, which allows the web browser to fully make use of websites that use Flash for navigation, games, and showing video.

Android OS 2.2 also contains a number of other small enhancements, but none of the changes significantly change the platform.

Will the Sprint Google Nexus One be dropped soon too?

he AT&T version is now available with the T-Mobile version while the Verizon version has been dropped with the HTC Droid Incredible taking its place. With the Sprint HTC EVO 4G becoming available in June we now have to wonder if the Sprint Nexus One will also be dropped soon.

If the Sprint version is dropped then there will be now CDMA version of the Nexus One and the fact that Google sells hardware seems to make less sense.

Nexus One to get Android 2.2 and 802.11n Wi-Fi

The Nexus One may be upgraded to 802.11n Wi-Fi when Android 2.2 will ship, as Broadcom and Google have discretely released new drivers for the Wi-Fi chipset of the smartphone. These drivers would enable 802.11n. Although the drivers are not yet part of the operating system, they were compiled for Android 2.1 and were successfully connected to the much faster wireless networking. Analysts observed that the hardware was capable to work at higher speeds but had not been used at its highest capacity until now.

Nexus One Arriving On Vodafone UK This Month

Vodafone subscribers over in the UK have something to celebrate over as reports are filtering in that Google’s Nexus One phone should be hitting Vodafone UK by the end of this month.

Verizon Nexus One No, Microsoft Kin phones Yes

Announced earlier was two new mobile smartphones named the KIN ONE and KIN TWO, so NOT the Nexus One on Verizon.

This means the release date for the Google phone on Verizon is still a mystery. The Microsoft KIN ONE and KIN TWO will release on Verizon Wireless early May 2010.

Nexus One Coming To Verizon (Soon)

Rumors about just when Google’s Nexus One smartphone will hit the market have abounded for months now. The only official word from Verizon about the whole deal was that it was ‘coming soon’ and should be ready by ‘Spring 2010.’

Times of the Internet spoke to a source at Verizon who wished to remain anonymous, and this source said that the launch was ‘imminent.’ Apparently there are some legal issues holding up the launch, but these details shouldn’t be enough to delay the Verizon Nexus One for long.

“Expect it before the end of April,” said the source.

Google Nexus One shows up in France on Bouygues Telecom’s website

Bouygues Telecom is the first French mobile carrier to list the Google Nexus One on its official website.

Unfortunately, Bouygues doesn’t say when exactly the Nexus One will be available – but it might happen this month, when the Google superphone should also be available via Verizon in the US, and via Vodafone in the UK.

Google’s Nexus One now in Canada

Up until now, Google’s new Nexus One phone, based on the Android operating system, wasn’t available for sale to Canadians. Some people got around that by ordering a phone from Google’s website and having it sent to a U.S. address. But now Google has announced Canadians can order the Nexus One phone for delivery to Canada. It has also released a second version of its Nexus One that will work on the Rogers network in Canada. Same phone and functions as the one released earlier, just different network workings inside. The Nexus One phones are unlocked, so they’ll work on most GSM networks. That means consumers won’t necessarily be locked into a single carrier when they buy a phone. It’s a boon for travellers, who can simply switch SIM cards when they reach a new country, thereby eliminating costly global roaming fees. www.google.com/phone

Verizon Nexus One Release DATE

While neither a Verizon Nexus Onedeal nor a Verizon Apple iPhone deal have been confirmed, online chatter this week says the VerizonNexus One will be announced March 23. The CDMA Nexus One is expected to be announced March 23 at CTIA 2010 in Las Vegas says reports.
